The renovation and extension of the University of Winchester’s Winton Chapel was an important milestone to commemorate the University’s 175th anniversary.

Originally built in 1880 and extended in 1927, the chapel plays a vital role in university life for students, staff and the local community – hosting services, concerts and events; it is a war memorial for the two World Wars, and a place of quiet contemplation as well as celebration.

A complete restoration was required for the building’s internal and external fabric to secure the chapel for future generations. A new side chapel was also needed to provide additional prayer and storage space.
