The renovation and extension of the University of Winchester’s Winton Chapel was an important milestone to commemorate the University’s 175^th anniversary.

Originally built in 1880 and extended in 1927, the chapel plays a vital role in university life for students, staff and the local community – hosting services, concerts and events; it is a war memorial for the two World Wars, and a place of quiet contemplation as well as celebration.

A complete restoration was required for the building’s internal and external fabric to secure the chapel for future generations. A new side chapel was also needed to provide additional prayer and storage space.
