Following our recent article featuring the Top 10 UK Construction Contractors, we now take a look at the Top 10 UK Construction Consultants during the pandemic.
The impact of the pandemic
Like other industries, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the UK construction industry over the past 12 months. Some construction projects have been delayed, and others have been cancelled, because of the effects of COVID-19 on the commissioning clients’ organisations.
According to a survey by CHAS, Common Assessment Standard Founder Member, 80.51% of respondents have had projects postponed or cancelled because of COVID-19, and 19.37% have seen their turnover decrease by more than 50%.
The Office of National Statistics reports that the level of output in January 2021 was 2.6% below February 2020 level, whilst the level of new work was 6.4% below this level.
Looking to the future
As unsettling as these statistics are, it is important to note that some organisations have been doing well during the pandemic and are likely to continue to do so in the future.
These companies offer hope for the industry as a whole and also for businesses within the same area of expertise. It is unfortunate that, as with any economic upheaval, there will be winners and losers.
As the construction industry continues to slowly recover from the COVID-19 Pandemic, let us look at the top 10 construction consultants for the year to date, up to 6th April 2021.
